Supporting Motu

Because we are a charitable trust, we rely on external support to ensure that we are able to continue producing top economic and public policy research.

Our research programmes are funded by various organisations including government departments and private companies. We also receive additional, non-contract funding in the form of endowments and donations from a number of public and private institutions, as well as interested individuals. These additional funds are managed by the Motu Research and Education Foundation.

Motu Research and Education Foundation

Motu is associated with the Motu Research and Education Foundation.

The Motu Foundation is a charitable trust, established in 2006, that aims to produce and disseminate socially relevant New Zealand policy research. It provides funding for New Zealand economic and public policy research so that innovative and independent policy research can take place. In doing so, it aims to contribute effectively to the development of strong public policy in New Zealand.

Friends of Motu

Motu is a non-profit organisation and we depend on grant support and donations from individuals and companies to achieve our goals. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Friends of Motu donate $100 per annum to support activities at Motu. In recent years, donations from Friends have funded the publication costs for Motu’s newsletter, the Motu Research Update. Friends receive a copy of the newsletter, along with an annual letter of thanks outlining Motu’s research and directions.
