Looking Forward After the Quake
Abstract
Rarely must New Zealand policy-makers confront a disaster on the scale of the Christchurch earthquakes. Following the recovery and clean-up processes, they will have to plan for the future of the city. This planning process will be inefficient if it is conducted along piecemeal, or laissez faire, lines. Decisions about the locations of infrastructure assets, public services and private assets must be made in a coordinated, coherent manner.
