Objective 2: To run and interpret policy relevant scenarios

Using the models and model linkages from Objective 1, and in collaboration with our EcoClimate partners, we will run a series of policy relevant scenarios addressing the impacts of climate change both directly and through international trade; the potential for adaptation through land use change, irrigation and flood protection; and policy options for climate mitigation in both land-use related activities and the energy sector. The results will include both economic and environmental measures (climate-related and other). Our general modelling approach   is to link model components as needed to address specific questions rather than create one model to address all questions.

Workshops and meetings

Integrated Modelling Workshop, October 2007

In October 2007, Motu held two workshops for researchers working on climate related modelling, endusers and our EcoClimate partners.  These workshops clarified the questions end-users would like to see addressed, the modelling capability in New Zealand and specifically Motu and EcoClimate’s current research work and provided an opportunity to discuss how all researchers can improve coordination and collaboration.

The key end-user questions raised in the meeting were summarised by Suzie Greenhalgh.  This document is available for download here.
