Levente Timar

Levente (Levi) Timar was a Fellow at Motu Research.

His research areas include environmental economics and the economics of natural hazards, with a particular interest in responses to environmental policies and extreme events.

Since coming to New Zealand in 2009, Levi has been deeply involved in the development and application of empirically-based simulation models of land use change. Insights provided by these models have been incorporated into national and regional policy frameworks and have significantly affected the dialogue among stakeholders, including debates around emissions trading and nutrient trading.

Levi enjoys nature and the outdoors, and he is a keen runner.
