Madeline Duhon

After her summer at Motu in 2011 as part of the Stanford Energy and Environment Policy Analysis Center fellowship, Madeline spent some time in the private sector.

She joined the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) as a Research Analyst in 2013. At J-PAL Madeline has provided research assistance for a range of projects, primarily those investigating the impact of policy interventions aimed at improving education and health in the developing world. For example, one such project compares the impact of various programs each implementing a variant of a “teaching at the right level” method through in-school, after-school, teacher-led, or volunteer-led sessions across several states in India. As another example, she gained several months field experience working on an evaluation of a preschool math intervention targeted at children living in slums in Delhi, India.

She acts as the course manager for Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee’s online course “14.73x: The Challenges of Global Poverty” and forms part of the team collaborating to build and run Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee, and Ben Olken’s upcoming online course “14:74x: Foundations of Development Policy.”
