Steven Stillman

Steven Stillman received his PhD in Economics from the University of Washington in 2000. He joined the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano as a Professor in the Department of Economics and Management in January 2016. Prior to this, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Otago from 2011-2015, a Senior Fellow at Motu Economic and Public Policy Research from 2004 to 2011, a Senior Research Economist at the New Zealand Department of Labour from 2002 to 2004 and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the RAND Corporation from 2000 to 2002.

Steve is an affiliated researcher at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM), and the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research. His research focuses on empirical labour economics, specialising in the behaviour of individuals and households. Steve is broadly interested in research on migration, health, nutrition, education, household decision-making and inequality
